Our rubbish is collected on a Monday. Every week regular waste is collected and the garden waste and recycling alternates. Last Monday the garbos went on strike wanting better pay conditions (they were offered 2% next year and 3% each year for 2 years). No rubbish collection.
The ACT government did set-up drop-off points for those of us in affected suburbs. We don’t fill our bin each week, so didn’t bother with taking what we had to a drop-off point.
Now the garbos have announced they are striking for a second day… Monday again. This time the government have told us to put our wheely-bins out and to leave them on the street until they get emptied. They are trying to organise a collection for Tuesday.
Our bin is getting close to being full, and with the days warming it’s getting a little stinky. I hope they are collected on Tuesday!
Have you ever been affected by a garbage strike?

Oh no. I do support when people strike, but it’s a big hassle when it’s the garbage. Hopefully this’ll be the end of it for you.

Yeah, garbage is something you don’t want to start piling up. Hygiene, smell, pests… urgh.

Check out some of America’s big cities. Garbage everywhere. They are disgusting.
