Music: what I clean to

Do you clean to music? It’s pretty much the only way I can clean. I sing off-key at the top of my voice and it distracts me from the task at hand (no, not a fan of housework).

The thing about my cleaning music is that I usually play the same music. My go-to cleaning music is the soundtrack to Joseph and the Technicoloured Dreamcoat (the Jason Donovan version). I’m not sure why. I mean, I love that play and the music, but I love a lot of music. I think maybe because it’s all fairly upbeat and humorous?

Do you clean to music? Anything special?

From the UK version starring Jason Donovan (this is the finale piece with the syncopated rock beat)

  1. I always have music on when I’m home, AJ. And yes, that goes for when I’m cleaning too. Usually the radio or something on Spotify. Never thought of cleaning to a musical soundtrack but that is a great idea. I have The Book of Mormon soundtrack on my phone, and that would make excellent cleaning music!

    • I haven’t seen The Book of Mormon, although I’ve heard it’s fabulous. I’m not even familiar with the music- I must have a listen!

  2. The only thing I really do to music is drive. Everything else I prefer silence for. Weird, I know. But I can see having a cleaning soundtrack. We all like our habits.

    • Yeah, funny our habits. I can’t (desk)work to any music with words because I’ll sing, but other work I like to belt it out.
