Every year I make New Year Resolution/s – and this year is no different. For 2019 I resolve not to make a New Year’s resolution! It isn’t that I’m not striving to achieve something. I am. But I heard this quote by Henry Moore and thought it was one to live by. So this year I will:
…think in terms of the day’s resolutions, not the year’s.
What about you? To resolve or not? And do you succeed? Would love for you to share your thoughts.

I don’t make resolutions – or at least not in the regular sense, like to start a diet or exercise more. Those are always set up to fail! Especially in the winter where it’s cold and all you want to eat is comfort food haha! This year I did set some goals for myself, but that was more just a declaration of things I had already started and I’ll just be taking the next steps lol

Gosh, I’d never be able to do a diet resolution if it was cold! Totally agree it’s best not to set yourself up to fail. Little steps are so much better than giant leaps.

That’s a great quote. After all, that’s how things actually get done, isn’t it? Moment by moment, day by day, decision by decision, one footstep in front of another.
Thanks for sharing, AJ. Happy New Year!

I used to try and make the standard resolutions and always failed – which is hard for me as I am a big goal setter. Now I find it much easier to find success.

I don’t do resolutions, and the quote you posted kinda sums up why. I figure that we can make a new start any day, and imbuing one specific day with all the “starting something new” power leaves me cold. I like the idea of making changes as the changes needed become apparent.

I’m not a resolution maker. It never works for me. Things change. No point in making myself feel guilty for not achieving something that was never going to work out. Last year I was going to become a full time writer. No5 possible. Family commitments got in the way, and I did a day a week of volunteer work because I missed my students and I find I get more writing done when I am working. I was going to get my flat cleaned of years of teaching junk. I did some, yes, but still nowhere near finished.
So, no resolutions this year! Just do my best.
