Pool to Pond is the conversion of the backyard swimming pool into a natural pond – with aquatic plants and fish. Apparently “pool to pond” has been around for a number of years, but it was only last year I heard about it.
In Australia there are a *lot* of backyard swimming pools, about 13% of the houses in the country have one. I bet there are many that aren’t being used very often anymore (usually once the kids have grown up).
Converting your pool to a pond is a great way of helping the environment while making your pool a lot more practical (and you can still swim in it!).
I’ve looked at quite a few on the internet, and they range from simple to elaborate. Here’s a short (1.5 mins) video interview with one lady who converted her pool:
Have you converted your pool to a pond? Would you?

That’s a good idea. Where I live has both ponds and pools. If you don’t swim, it would be a good idea.

I’d totally do this if we had a pool. But we don’t (we swim in creeks instead).
