I might be behind the times, but I have to share this anyway. Have you heard of Radio Garden? It is the most amazing website or app (both available).
When you open Radio Garden you will see a map of the world with loads of green dots. Each of those dots are a local radio station. Select the dot you want and it will play the radio station (check the list on the screen because sometimes there is more than one station located at the same place, as is the case for my home town of Canberra).
Radio Garden is a not-for-profit Dutch radio and digital research project which was developed from 2013 to 2016. The premise for the idea was to narrow the boundaries from radio. In 2016, when it had reached over 8,000 registered radio stations it went viral (I did say I was behind the times).
Do you still listen to the radio? Have you tried Radio Garden?

Very interesting!
I stream my favourite radio station using an app called Radioplayer, on my Sonos device – my building has thick walls with the plaster embedded onto wire, so picking up even a local radio station the old fashioned way doesn’t work well for me in most parts of my house. I can listen from anywhere in the world, much like the Radio Garden app you mentioned. I think this stuff is great!

It is great, Deb. It’s really interesting hearing what other parts of the world are listening to.

Not much to listen to on the radio here in Atlanta, but I have used several computer and iPhone apps that allow me to listen to radio all over the world. Even down your way! I think I’ve used Radio Garden before; the interface looks familiar. Right now I’m listening to the tower at O’Hare International Airport in Chicago using the web interface…

I can’t imagine our radio stations are any more interesting, John!

Kinda glad I’m not the only one who wasn’t aware, Jacqui. It’s really cool though, isn’t it 🙂

Nope, never heard of it. I don’t listen to much, generally, anyway. I only listen to the radio in my car (my car is so old I only get broadcast radio). But it might be interesting to hear what other parts of the world are listening to.

I listen to the radio in the car as well. Is there an alternative in new cars to broadcast radio? That’s all we get.

This is so cool! I also listen to the radio when I’m in the car. (Mine is just regular broadcast, too, not satellite or anything fancy.) But I do switch away from the commercials because I can’t bear to listen to advertisements 🙂

Lol, I do the same. I will switch from station to station so I don’t have to listen to the ads.
