When the Rijksmuseum is reopened in 2013 after being closed for a decade, they decided to promote the opening, and the museum’s most famous artwork, by holding a very clever flashmob. At the time flashmobs were huge and I think they did a brilliant job with this (there are two other flash mobs I thought were very clever and I might share them in future posts).
The painting is Rembrandt’s The Night Watch – I hope you enjoy this as much as I do (I’ve watched it too many times to count).

Wow! That was amazing!! I’m not sure I can classify it as a flash mob but I LOVED it! Horses and chickens in a mall?! Brilliant! Lol

I think technically (by definition) it is actually a smart mob, rather than a flash mob, but either way I still thinks it rocks.

Hmms maybe that qualifier is needed? Cos it was a “flash” but maybe a flash smart mob? Instead of a flash dance mob? Lol
But you are right! Either way it was amazing! I wish I could have been there!

Being there would have been surreal. Can you imagine what the shoppers were thinking?!

😂😂 Exactly!! It would have been wonderful

I like these flashmobs. Never seem to be where they are!

I know, same here. I was almost in one once, but it got cancelled for some reason a week or so out. Was to be done at a writing conference so would have been brilliant. Always been disappointed over that.

Very clever.

I think they did a great job considering it must have been really hard to practice. Unless they were allowed in after hours?
