Living in the capital of Australia does bring with it some advantages. In particular, we are fortunate enough to have rather exciting exhibitions on our doorstep. In December this year an exhibition from the British Museum will be on display at the National Museum of Australia. the major exhibition is Ancient Greeks: Athletes, Warriors and Heroes. There will be about 180 objects covering the theme of competition through sports, politics, drama, music and warfare – some of which have never made it to the southern hemisphere before. Quite an appropriate exhibition in an Olympics year.
I am definitely going to be attending this exhibition. Have you seen/would you like to see this exhibition or is an Ancient Greek exhibition not your cup of tea?

Please either make a post or send me lots of pictures 😂 I want to go to museums again 😫 my only hope is that the ROM is open before I leave Toronto cos I was supposed to go last March with the toddler (who turns 6 in two weeks!!!!) and it got cancelled for covid….

I’ll definitely post!! We’re very lucky to have been able to go to museums and art galleries already. I’m hoping to go to another exhibition next week – I have to travel interstate for it so I’ll wait and see if I actually make it. If I do I’ll post about it though 🙂

Oooo awesome! Friday morning at 12:01am we enter into phase 1 (again). This time reopening is my sectors not regions. Last time regions opened so people travelled out of their own region for things like hair cuts and spa services. But not this time! Hahaha! I’ll be making a post hopefully about it cos I have other exciting things to share

Looking forward to your post, GF. I am glad some of your restrictions are easing at last.

There is a lot to admire about the ancient Greeks. I’d definitely go.

Exactly! I think it will be fascinating but also informative.

Oh, this exhibition sound great! Enjoy 😊

Thanks, Frederique, I will 🙂

I think I’d probably go to it if it was close enough and someone I knew wanted to go. I am fortunate to live close enough to Los Angeles that various interesting exhibitions are close enough to see. (The traffic is terrible, but if something is worth it, it’s only 30 miles away.)

I imagine LA does get some great exhibitions so being close is great.

The Tampa Museum of Art has a default setting of Greek vases. Whenever they don’t have a traveling show, they trot them out.
A few years back they did have a larger Greek exhibit, possibly the same one you are anticipating. Do go, it is worth it.

Haha, love your description of “default Greek vases”. I’m looking forward to it 🙂

That sounds interesting! I would definitely attend. At this point, I’d go see pretty much anything at a museum though 😉

Oh, I totally understand, Jenny. If I hadn’t been able to go for a long time, I’d be exactly the same.

It does look good! Very much my cup of tea! If we aren’t locked down in December I might come over.

I think the exhibition is open for a few months, so there should be a window in there somewhere 🙂
