Canberra: Cockington Green Gardens

Cockington Green Gardens were established in 1979 (I remember visiting when we came to Canberra on a family holiday in the late 80s). The beautifully landscaped gardens feature meticulously handcrafted miniature buildings (to scale). The tiny gardens around the houses are not bonsaied, but carefully chosen plants that are naturally small. As well as a working miniature boat in a canal and working miniature train, there is a small ride-on steam train (usually referred to as a miniature steam train – but that doesn’t really work when everything else is much smaller).

When you walk around make sure you look at the buildings and people carefully as there are many humourous additions (such as the chainsaw massacre about to take place below).
