Next week I’m off to Hobart (in Tasmania) for the national Romance Writers of Australia conference. It’s pretty cold down there (hopefully I’ll see snow topped mountains), but it’s usually not as cold as home in Canberra. At least I have all the warm weather gear I will need, especially as I am not staying at the conference hotel but instead will have a 2km (1.2 miles) walk.
I’m usually more prepared a week out but today my packing list isn’t written, items haven’t started to be gathered. In fact, I had even hoped to have a new scarf to wear, but as you can see from my photo below, it’s a little short!
At least the most important thing is ready (and has been for months now) and that’s the workshop I am presenting at conference. I’m really excited about this workshop and hope attendees get a lot out of it and enjoy it as much as I enjoyed preparing it. I’ll talk more about my workshop next time.
Are you an organised and prepared traveller or a throw it together in the nick of time traveller?

Have a great time! I was there years ago for a library conference. The GoH was Susan Cooper of Dark Is Rising fame. I stayed at a small hotel and walked to Wrest Point where the conference was happening. The view was wonderful.
I’m a fairly organised traveller, because I’m terrified something important will be left behind.

Sue, that’s me (usually). I hate to forget things and not being organised is a definite stresser. I wonder if you stayed where I’m staying?

Honestly, I can’t remember what the hotel was called. It was a small place and they gave you a key to let yourself in, in case you came back late, as the doors closed after a certain time, You could walk to Wrest Point, it was about a kilometre away. But that was years ago. It might be different.

I’ll have to see what ours does! but we’re about 2km away, so probably different (there aren’t a lot of accommodation places around there though).

All that matters is that your workshop is ready. That’s the hard part. Packing? That won’t take you any time at all. Enjoy your trip.
