I’m a Daphne finalist

Image

I’m very excited to be able to announce that my manuscript is a finalist in the Daphne du Maurier Award for Excellence in Mystery/Suspense in the unpublished mainstream mystery/suspense category. The Daphne is run by the Kiss of Death chapter of RWA (America).

Good luck to the other finalists *waving*:

I’m still a little shell-shocked, but I am in that awesome place now, you know, the Schrodinger’s cat place, where my entry has won and not won, all at the same time. Regardless of the outcome, this is me right now:

Have you had anything to celebrate recently?

*Schrödinger’s cat is a thought experiment that illustrates a paradox of quantum superposition. In the thought experiment, a hypothetical cat may be considered simultaneously both alive and dead as a result of its fate being linked to a random subatomic event that may or may not occur. Wikipedia

  1. Anita, that is fantastic!

You must be thrilled. After all this time and nose-to-the-grindstone work you are finally getting what you deserve – recognition for your talent and perseverance! XXXX

    Fingers and toes crossed!

    • Thank you, my dear friend. I feel I’ve conquered a few rungs on the ladder to publication this year, but I wouldn’t have got to this point without the support of friends like you. xx

Ahhhhh!! This is amazing news AJ!!! Woohoo!! I’m so happy for you!

  3. Wonderful news, Anita! Next, all going well, there will be a sale! Well done.

    • Thank you, Sue. An agent and a sale would be icing on the cake. I hope they both follow sooner rather than later, but every achievement is one step closer 🙂

  4. Congratulations, AJ! I’m very happy to read this!

    Congratulations 🎉 and good luck!

  7. Congrats. (On the cat thing, have you seen the plate thing? It’s a glass fronted cabinet with a stack of plates leaning against them precariously. Once the door is opened, they’ll fall and break. So, broken and not at the same time.)

    • No, I haven’t, Liz, but that is brilliant. Now I will have to hunt it down.

  8. Fantastic news and a great comp. Congratulations! Now the stomach-gnawing wait….

  9. Awesome awesome awesome! And I agree with the contest judges. That manuscript deserves to be selected!

    • Aw, thank you, Dena. You’ve been an important part of making that manuscript shiny.

  10. Well, hot damn, congratulations

  11. Wonderful! I’m so excited and wish you the best of luck! I can’t wait to hear.

    • Thanks, Jenny. Regardless of the outcome, I will be posting the results here (I already feel like a winner making the finals 🙂 )
