How do you like your eggs? I have two favourites: poached and fried sunny-side up. To get the perfect eggs each time I have hacks which work brilliantly. Today I thought I’d share my trick for sunny side up.
Before I get to the hack, how do you eat your fried eggs? I like mine on toast with butter and vegemite and a sprinkle of pepper. Yum.
I had good intentions the last time I cooked eggs of taking photos every step of the way, but of course I forgot and only managed to remember to take one of the hack itself. I’ll try and remember to do better when I give you my hack for poaching eggs!
To fry the perfect egg, start frying your eggs like normal:

When the eggs get to about the point in the photo above (which is really only about 20 secs in – just so the bottom is nearly changed to white), cover the frying pan. I use junk mail, but you can use alfoil, a lid if your pan comes with it, a plate etc. Anything that will stop the steam escaping because the steam is what cooks the top of your egg.

Just keep peeking at your eggs until they are as cooked (or runny) as you like. Presto, sunny side up eggs cooked perfectly.

Until I discovered this trick, I’d end up with eggs with overcooked bottoms and raw tops and I have to flip them to cook properly.
Am I the last to learn this trick? If you use this sunny side up hack, let me know how you go. Do you have a hack for frying eggs?

Glad you found a hack that works. I don’t fry my eggs. I mostly eat them scrambled (cooked in the microwave). There are so many great ways to cook eggs.

I don’t think I have ever done scrambled eggs in the microwave. I’ve done poached, but that’s about it. But you’re right, eggs are such a versatile food!
By the way, I did your red quiz but I couldn’t get the comment to work – I got 19/20, best of the colours so far.
