Zoom – our fun new workplace

With everyone working from home, virtual meetings are now the norm. Doesn’t really matter whether it is Skype, Zoom, Google Hangout Meet or any of the other services out there, they effectively all do the same thing.

I thought you might enjoy reflecting on our new online life with me:

Hehe we go google hangout meets! And I hate it lol omg I hate being on video call (except for one person). Our church is using a “go to meeting” or something like that website? Idk.

I have a question about those “fails” like honestly in today’s world of technology, those people who “didn’t know” they were being filming going to the bathroom or standing up in their underwear. Like come on! You KNOW the camera is on. You turned it on. You can see yourself. I think it’s all straggled 😂😂

    • You’d think you remember the video is on, but it is really easy to forget. I often work at my desk with other work-from-home friends using skype. We turn it on to video, have a 5 min chat and than mute. It’s nice to have company. But we all forget. And sometimes you think you’ve turned the video off, but you didn’t click it properly or something. Or you’ve minimised and forgotten it’s even there.

  2. Zoom really has taken over. Video meetings I think are a great idea. I always engage my online students in them, ask how many of their other teachers do, and the answer invariably is few. I don’t get it.

    • We don’t use Zoom because of the poor privacy associated with it, but the Barbarians are using Google Hangout Meet for their school classes. It’s brilliant because the teachers are still able to teach, even if it is in a reduced fashion.

  3. The only working from home I’ve been doing is my Etsy shop, which was always a work at home endeavor. Alas, the actual job requires kiddos to be in school…

Okies that’s fair haha! I’m always super paranoid about having my video/mic on. Even for church services when it’s automatically muted and I have headphones in which disconnect the mic function, I still check like 100 times during the service lol
