A to Z Challenge: Theme reveal 2021

This year I’m participating in the A to Z blogging challenge (my fifth time), which starts on April 1st. I didn’t participate last year (surprisingly not because of covid, but because I was away for the month before, leaving no prep time). I wasn’t sure if I would join in again this year, but inspiration for a theme struck last year.

If you are going to have a theme to your posts, now is the time to reveal all. I find a theme is more fun, and as I already had an idea for a theme, naturally I am using it this year.

After my fun and light 2019 theme of John Williams’ music scores, I thought I’d go back to something along the lines of my rather dark 2018 theme of serial killers. My 2021 theme is… *drumroll*

… POISONS (AND STORIES OF THEIR USE) !!!

  1. Excellent theme. Sad I missed the John Williams one, I’ll have to go back and check it out. Look forward to your posts, good luck!

    • Thanks, Iain. The John Williams theme was so much fun to do, although for some letters it was really hard to narrow it down to 1 score!

  2. Poison?
    A is for arsenic… I think I’m scared…

    • There are a few letters (like A) which are fairly obvious. But there are some letters which I’m hoping to surprise you with 🙂

  3. I’ll definitely be reading your blog in April. Sounds like a winner theme!

    • Thanks, Dena. It kinda is a help to me because when I need to kill off a character I’ve got the research at my fingertips 😉

  4. This sounds very interesting!

    • Thanks, Lisa.I love the sound of yours. I’m not sure I could a to z my garden but I love a yard full of flowers.

  5. Oooh, I might learn something next month. Interesting…

    • I hope so, Liz. I learnt a lot researching. My biggest problem at the moment is culling it down so they aren’t too long to read!

    Oooooooo sounds amazing!!!

I only did last year because of COVID haha! I was working from home and had lots of free time. But this year I won’t be participating but I totally can’t wait to read your posts!

  7. I bet it was interesting learning about this topic. it will be fun to read your posts. Weekends In Maine

    • It was very interesting, Karen, although I’d hate for anyone to have to check my browser history. Your topic is right up my alley too, though.

  8. Great theme! I’m not participating this year, but I will look forward to your posts!

  9. This is going to be fun.

    One question, quibble, or something.

Is it the mystery writer in you that decided to call it poison? Did the environmental, scientific person in you state the larger option of calling it toxins? As toxins you could include insecticides and rodenticides (DDT for the Ds and Warfarin in the Ws). Neither are technically poisons (neither is Bactillium) but open more options.

I know poison has a bigger splash than toxin, but…

    • Haha, I should have known you’d pick up on that, BF. I went with poison because of the bigger splash, more used in mystery writing and I may have decided to take literary licence with my definition of poison… *grin*

  10. Interesting topic! Looking forward to reading your entries!

    • Thanks, John. It’s been quite fascinating doing the research, so I hope everyone else enjoys it as much as I have.

  11. Oh, wow! Fascinating theme. I know next to nothing about this subject. It’ll be fun to read about it.

    • Thanks to having to match up the alphabet, it’s meant I’ve had to learn a lot as well 🙂

  12. Darkly delicious – looking forward to your posts.

    • Thanks, Deborah. It will be a little dark, but hopefully interesting too.

    • PS I visited your theme reveal but I’m not sure if my comment worked. It seemed to disappear after I submitted.

  13. Ooooh, it’s going to be very interesting! Looking forward to it 😉
