Covid life dress up

Apparently for many people in lockdown, they’ve missed having a reason to get dressed up. Taking out the weekly rubbish became reason enough to dress to the nines. Yes, not only did Australia start the toilet paper wars, but we also started the dress up for bin isolation day trend.

All that effort to put on your heels and make-up to wheel out the bin. But it has made a lot of people smile while in lockdown.

People all over the country dressed up in their finest to wheel their bin to the driveway. There are many examples of this (like the woman who dressed in a different onesie every week for the neighbourhood kids) but I thought I’d share with you the weekly fashion show of a 20-year-old in Redlands, Queensland.

Flynn Clifford-Smith and his trusty sidekick Terry the Chihuahua dressed every week until restrictions started to ease. He started under duress when his mum talked him into doing it. But he got into the spirit of it as you’ll see from the some of the examples below.

I should note, this is not my thing at all! Yesterday was the first day in 9 weeks I didn’t wear my tracky daks. With covid life rolling back in Oz, we’re starting to slowly move towards a more normal life. Sadly, that means abandoning my tracky daks for less casual attire.

Has anyone in your neighbourhood (you?) done this? Would you?

I’ve dressed up for videos for my ducklings on the second week of lessons, thinking we wouldn’t be out this long LOL and some staff socials are dress up too. Like Hawaiian day – put a flower in my hair etc.

  2. I live in a condo complex, so the trash are big dumpsters where we cart our own trash. So, no, we haven’t done this. But anything to keep it interesting.
