The week that was

Sometimes you never know what’s around the corner, and for me that was last week. In the very early hours of Monday I woke up to a sick Barbarian. Before the day was out, we were in an ambulance on our way to hospital. Four days later, after living and sleeping in a chair by his bedside, we were able to come home. He’s recovering (and will be perfectly fine), although he is away from school for at least this week, maybe the next.

How was your last week?

  1. That is a parent’s nightmare, Anita. I remember when my daughter was four, she had a neckache that became radical surgery and five years of recovery. We earn our stripes, don’t we, as moms? I’m glad your sweetheart will be fine!

    • Gosh, five years of recovery is awful. Obviously she is doing well now! Our stripes are well earnt, that’s for sure.

  2. Yikes. I’m so sorry. Glad to hear he’s on the mend. Scary.

  3. Sorry, A.J., hospitals creep me out, even when they aren’t pandemic stressed.

Remember that splinter from the little ouchie post? It was not a clean splinter and carried an infection. The culture said it was a fungus, so, after three days of Bactrin, I ended up with a week of ingesting a fungicide.

It will take a couple of weeks to recover from that.

    • Oh no, BF! That’s awful. I hope the new medicine worked, although it doesn’t sound like it’s been great if you need a few weeks to recover. Good luck!

  4. Oh, those are worrisome times for a parent! I’ve been there with one of my boys, ambulance ride and all. I’m so glad your son is feeling better and will be okay. Make time to give yourself some TLC, too!

    • I’m sure every parent ends up in this situation at some point, but it is always scary to live through, even if they are in good hands!

  5. Hi Anita,
    Thank goodness he is okay.

    My love to you all.

  6. I’m glad that you and your barbarian are home and on the mend! How scary!! Be safe and well!

    • Thanks, GF. It was a long week (although this one seems long as well as I have to catch up on everything last week that was just dropped and abandoned).

  7. Sounds exhausting!!! Make sure your also take time to rest and recharge

  8. Oh, wow, hopefully you are both home. Take care.
