Apparently there are people who genuinely enjoy grocery shopping. I’m not one of them. I puzzle over those people. I guess they like discovering new products, hunting for bargains and wandering through the aisles? For me, grocery shopping ranks somewhere between cleaning the toilet and waiting on hold for the bank. It’s something that has to be done, a weekly chore.
About ten years ago, after I’d had surgery, I ordered my groceries online because I couldn’t get to the shop. I’ve never stopped. I know it costs a couple of dollars more (although at the moment with fuel the price it is, I’m probably saving a few dollars not driving to the shops) but I feel it’s money well spent.
I can do my shopping late at night (and often do). I can add things to my cart during the week as I realise we need them so I don’t forget things. I can still find bargains. I can save time not having to drive there and load my trolley myself. And it’s made a chore I dislike more bearable. I can’t see myself ever going back to a physical store for my weekly shop.

Yes, I do most of my grocery shopping online. I only go to the supermarket when I have run out of something, or to get meat, which I don’t want to order online.

We get our meat from a farmer – paddock to plate in the literal sense – so get very little meat online. But I’m the same otherwise, only go if I have to.

I’m one of the weird ones that likes to go grocery shopping. Having money helps. When I was broke, it was hard, but now that I’m not, I enjoy not having to worry about how much I’m spending. And I like to get what I want to get.

Having that luxury of not counting pennies would make the experience better. I still have The Hub and two Barbarians to shop for as well, so I need to buy a lot of food and I have to stick to budget. Not fun 😝
