My happy playlist

I’ve been trying to find playlists to listen to on YouTube, but unless I am listening to a specific artist, the mixes just don’t work for me, and YouTube’s “personal mix” for me is a bit hit and miss.

To solve the problem I decided to make my own playlist. It’s a work in progress (although it is up to 150 songs so far). I stick it on shuffle and know I will love listening to every song. “AJ’s Happy Playlist” focuses on music that makes me smile and dance. I fully plan on making other playlists in the future 🙂

This is my playlist (below) with a song I only very recently heard for the first time, although the group sing another favourite on my list (Shut Up and Dance). Walk the Moon is a Cincinnati rock group that formed in 2006, but have an 80’s influence in their music.

You can check out my list here: AJ’s Happy Playlist

Does my happy music make you smile? Do you have your own playlist?

  1. Have you tried spotify? I have it but never use it anymore haha my commute is so short and its almost not worth the hassle of finding what I’m in the mood for cos I’m already almost at work by the time I do haha

    • I did try Spotify and didn’t really like it (free version). The Barbarians use Spotify though and seem to like it.

  2. Too many to listen to them all, but I did like the one with the Soweto Gospel Choir…if only I knew what the words meant… 🙂

    • I love that song, Sue. We play it in band and I love playing it as much as listening to it. It’s from a hymn but that version is from a computer game called Civilisation (have never played that, lol).

  3. I so rarely listen to music that I don’t see the value in a playlist. I know, I’m weird. I just use Pandora, and that works for my limited needs.

    • I used to use Pandora, but in 2017 they suddenly stopped their service in Australia 🙁 I listen to the playlist for at least 30mins most weekdays (less on the weekends).

  4. I have a couple hundred playlists, primarily ones that I post as part of my music posts, but I do have a few that I have for myself. Sometimes I’ll see an article that talks about songs and I’ll figure “hey, I’d like to have that one” and build it for my own entertainment. Most recently, there was an article that talked about instrumental lounge music, and I built it for myself: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLSyZ5mLbrD9PHXwsobIg1utGSR9XvLhC4, if you’re interested…

  5. Great list, John. I’ve just subscribed and look forward to listening to it. I see you have Acker Bilk in there, which has made me reminisce. I got an Acker Bilk tape for my 11th birthday and used to listen to it every night when I went to bed. Not sure whatever happened to it. Not that it would matter because I wouldn’t be able to play it now anyway!

  6. That’s fair! I’ve only had it since the summer and only the free version. Kind of pointless to use it for my commute now…the bed to the chair at the end of the bed doesn’t really need music 😂

  7. I went outside to the mailbox today!!! LOL

  8. I haven’t done a playlist in forever! You have some great songs on yours…but Castle On The Hill always makes me sad!

    • Castle on the Hill always makes Heckle sad as well. But I love the music so tune out the words, lol.

  9. Oh don’t I know it 😂 finished school an hour early today, told all the kids to go for recess and not come back LOL gonna go to the dollar store and pick up dinner and snacks, and have a video date tonight too!
