The $1 million dollar barramundi – update!

Just a quick update on a post I wrote in 2020 about a fishing contest with a Barramundi worth a million dollars. You can read about the contest here.

A few days ago, Katherine local, 19-year-old Keegan Payne, caught the fish in the Katherine River. He caught it just in the nick of time, the following day was the last day of this year’s competition.

Imagine being 19 and thanks to a fish going home with a million dollars. As to what he is going to do with the money he said, “I can buy what I want, maybe help Dad and Mum out with the home loans.”

What would you do if you won a million dollars?

  1. I would pay off my current debts (last little bit of school loans and my car) and then put the rest into savings haha! Not very exciting.

  2. Are you kidding? I’ve been having somewhat modest home improvements made to the house. For a million bucks I’d gut the thing and rebuild it completely.

    • Imagine all sparkly and shiny new! That would be a great way to spend the money, john. It would also be easier then living through renovations. Good luck with them.

  3. What a lovely story.

  4. It is a feel-good story. The world needs more of them at the moment.
