Best thing this week

In 2020 I’m answering a list of 52 journal questions. Read about it here.

What was the best thing that happened this week?
This week was the first week of the new school year where we live. So hands down the best thing was having two Barbarians happy with their classes, friends, teachers etc.

I always think if you start on the right foot it will all work out. Here’s to a great year of school.

What was good for you this week?

  1. Alas, I have had a difficult week. It started with my hot water system in the kitchen flooding the kitchen and hallway. Okay, that was the other Wednesday, but I had to wait while the repairs were finished, then get in an assessor to see if the carpet was repairable(no), then go hunting for rugs to put in th3 hallway when the carpet is lifted off(concrete underneath). I did finally find some decent hall runners at a small business and the owner is delivering them Sunday, no charge, plus he gave me a discount for spending so much. I guess that would be the best thing this week. It could be much worse; the flooding could have happened while I was not at home.

    • Oh, no, Sue. Wet carpet is the worst…and was that during the hot days? Ugh, the smell and risk of mold *shudder*. I’m glad you were able to get a good deal on the runners. I hope they fixed the problem!

  2. On Wednesday, I had “Scientists in the school” which is where a person comes to your classroom and does experiments with your class. I was lucky because it’s like a half-day program BUT I only have one section for half a day anyway so the lady stayed all day long and did her thing TWICE. Like maybe she has a full day presentation but whatever I got two presentations! LOL which means I didn’t have to teach at all. And for the most part, my students were behaved (just one head down all day!). And luckily for me, because on Tuesday I had a little bit of a cough and Wednesday I woke up and POOF almost no voice!!! And I’m not sure if this is a good thing but I went to the doctor’s after and I have full-blown laryngitis and earned myself a four-day weekend!! Just starting Day 2 now. I’m bored. It’s only 7:30 am lol But I think I have actual sound coming out of my vocal cords this morning!!!

    • I bet the kids loved it. My two loved us doing experiments when they were younger (actually, they still love them now). (((hugs))) on the voice, but the timing was rather serendipitous. I hope you are feeling better now.

The voice is cracking back into its normal self! There’s some sound now which is nice! I’m just enjoying the extra sleep I’ve been getting lol the kids really enjoyed the scientist!

    • Snuggle in for the weekend and find something to binge-watch. Have you watched Sex Education (starring Gillian Anderson) or Schitt’s Creek? Grace and Frankie? Brooklyn 99? Rest and recuperate, m’dear.

Haha I signed up for Disney+ this afternoon and am currently watching “Recess” and pretending I am a child again hehe!

  5. It’s interesting how our years are just off by about six months. We’re midway through our school year now. Glad your barbarians are liking their new classes.

    • Yeah. You’ll be talking about upcoming summer holidays and we’ll be snuggling in for the winter months. Before we know it our hot Christmas will be back and you’ll be relieving for all the teachers with the flu…
