Highs and lows

In 2020 I’m answering a list of 52 journal questions. Read about it here.

What were your highs and lows this week?
You know when someone tells you there is good news and bad news and what do you want to hear first? I always pick the bad news because I’d rather finish with something positive than…not. No surprise, then, that I will start with the week’s lows.

Lows:
– Heckle had a big week of assessment. Turns out my tummy thinks I am doing the assessment, not one of the Barbarians, so I have had an upset tummy and high stress this week.

– Work has been a total cluster. I’m a casual lecturer at the equivalent of a US college. Somehow, my employment status was terminated (!) which meant I had to stop work immediately (3 weeks into the semester, which I haven’t been paid for – how I realised there was a problem) and redo all the initial employment paperwork again because no-one had ever uploaded the documents to the system when I started there 7 years ago and they have been lost *insert horrified look here*.

– Between sorting out the work mess and Heckle’s (my) stress, I haven’t hit the writing goals for the week. Actually, I haven’t even come close.

– It’s been cold. It’s usually this time of year when I get to the point I am really over being cold and just want a day when I can be warm.

Highs:
– Heckle thinks he did okay with his assessment. My tummy can finally settle.

– I didn’t have to prep any lectures this week, or grade any papers.

– We did get snow which makes up (a little) for the chill (and more about that next week).

– The Hub had today off work so we played grown-ups and went out for lunch without kids.

I also have to add, while the weekend is about to start (this is being posted Friday night), the forecast for the weekend is sunny and warm (two things I haven’t had for a long time). Plus, I am hoping I can spend the weekend getting some writing in. Probably not enough to get to where I wanted/needed to be, but hopefully enough to catch up some ground.

How was your week?

My week has been a topsy-tuvry week of emotions all over the place! LOL Highlights should be on my blog over the next day or so. Maybe lol

  2. Love the lunch out. Our restaurants are open for outdoor seating only which isn’t working well. Sigh.

    • We are allowed 1 person per 4 square metres – so cafes calculate how many they can have, space the tables and you have to book for every cafe (it also helps keep client records so covid contact tracing can be done if needed). But it was lovely 🙂

  3. Yeah, my week’s been so busy I’m behind on all of the me stuff. But considering how bored I was while not working, I’m trying to see the positive. So sorry about the mess at work. Crazy that no one caught it before now.

I just got your email wishing me a happy birthday. Thank you. Somehow it ended up in my spam folder; no idea why.

    • You have a lot happening at the moment, Liz. Not surprised you are behind. Thanks – I can’t understand how work didn’t pick up on it either. I had felt something wasn’t right but they kept insisting…

  4. Hope it went well for you. xxx
