My weird things

In 2020 Iā€™m answering a list of 52 journal questions. Read about it here.

Write down five weird things you like.
I’m pretty weird anyway, so my normal is quite likely weird for everyone else, but I’ll give this a shot.

  1. Cheese and jam sandwiches (plum jam is the best).
  2. Creepy crawlies (spiders, snakes, frogs, insects, lizards…).
  3. Thunderstorms (lots of lightning and thunder and rain).
  4. Weeding (especially when the weather is nice).
  5. Really hot showers (even in summer).

What do you like that is weird?

  1. All the kids I nanny LOVE cheese and jam sandwiches! What is this?! Lol it seems so weird to me!

    • They are so yummy. I’ve been eating them since I was a kid. I also like vegemite on sandwiches with meat and salad (that’s considered weird here – even in a nation of vegemite eaters).

  2. Ooooo haha I might have to try? My nanny kids like marble cheese with raspberry jam and I legit cringed every time I made them lol

  3. I like all your weird things except #4. I’m not a fan of weeding.

I like salt and pepper on watermelon, but the weirdest thing is that occasionally something stinky like skunk or cigar smoke will smell kind of appealing to me. Not cat litter though. That always smells horrible. Give me a smelly dog any day, haha! šŸ™‚

So there you go, more than you ever wanted to know!

    • I don’t think I’ve ever had salt and pepper on watermelon on it’s own, although I have had watermelon in salads, which have probably had salt and pepper in them. Can’t say I’ve ever smelt skunk, but I’m not a fan of cigar.

  4. Oh, a challenge. Usually I’m more of a things-people-generally-like-that-I-can’t-stand, so this is a different mindset. Hmmm. . .

    1. Having sore muscles
    2. Doing laundry
    3. Tuesdays
    4. My job (yes, I like substitute teaching)
    5. Orange

    • Ugh, laundry. Want to come and do some of mine? I swear mine has been magicked so it is never-ending.

  5. Cheese and jam is good, though Iā€™d prefer bland cheese to salty. I had an American boyfriend once who combined Nutella with a thick chunk of yellow cheese! My sister and her friend used to spread Gorgonzola cheese on teddy bear biscuits. It was surprisingly nice.

I like a sandwich with banana and crunchy peanut butter.

    • I like Devondale tasty with my jam and my nutella with a spoon (I *love* nutella). I prefer crunchy peanut butter and it goes really well with banana (I have it as a smoothy). I hadn’t thought about it on a sandwich though…

  6. OK, those are unusual. I like weeding, too–the peace and quiet–but creepies? Oh no!

  7. I am sorry, my dear, but you sound rather bland and blase. Of course, you didn’t say what kind of cheese you like with your jam (jelly?).

Even my business of designing kayaks, canoes, and SUPs is weird..
I cook to unwind, though I tend to be scientific about how I cook.
I think about weird things, like how soil microbes join a symbiotic relationship with plant roots and their joy causes them to fart out cellulose enzymes to help the plant grow.

I write about such weird things as microbes and enzymes

I <a href=https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bjWhJm2dsbwShave My Head and Comb my face ( that is really because of my age, but I’ve combed my face for years.

  8. Ahh, you see, your business of designing kayaks, canoes etc isn’t weird to me, coming from a family that regularly had a skiff under construction under the house (water family). Actually, my dad is now a mad keen kayaker and is president of the kayak club where he lives (and most of his bucket list are kayak related – so far he’s crossed off Croatia, Fiji and Arctic Circle). Mum sighs, because now the house is littered with kayaks.

I would like to point out that thanks to you, there’s a whole class of students who also think about farting symbiotic microbes šŸ˜‰
